  • Introduction to People Management

There are those who enter Supervisory/Team Leader positions because they are very good workers and find themselves having responsibility for employees. It is hoped that they would have a good idea of how to manage employees which is not always the case (just as in parenting......everyone who has a child doesn’t necessarily know how to parent well, and some key practical strategies will put them on the right track). This seminar seeks to do the same by providing some first principles of managing employees.

  • Managing Diversity across the Generations

We have four generations in the workplace. The events and conditions each of us experience during our formative years help define who we are and how we view the world. There are more similarities than differences between these generations. The differences though, are such that if they are ignored could have significant impacts on your organisation. Because of these differences, the generations will have varying needs from their manager and organisation. This seminar identifies and addresses some of those needs.

  • Managing Performance and Behaviour Issues

Often Managers and Supervisors seek to deal with performance and behaviour issues by considering discipline. Discipline is a last resort and before it is contemplated there needs to be consideration given to finding the root causes because it’s only symptoms which are being exhibited. The focus should always be on correction, not punishment and to use discipline only when all else fails.

Without negotiation and conflict handling skills simple differences or mismatched goals will often escalate into full blown disputes, with attendant negative consequences.
