First Line Managers and Supervisors
The First Line Manager needs to have the technical skills/knowledge to plan and coordinate the work of their team and also the ‘soft’ skills to help individual employees realise their potential on the job. The role of the First Line Manager has changed in that they need wider knowledge to support the employee-employer relationship. Providing training to First Line Managers has a significant impact on employee development and up-skilling. It is widely recognised as being a significant factor in the retention of employees.
