ECCC Issues Briefings
Our popular issues briefings for ECCC members are held in nine locations throughout the central region three time a year. At each session we focus on current key issues facing employers and their businesses. We also provide brief, easy to understand updates on topical legal issues, the ramifications of new legislation and the possible impact this may have on your business.
A popular aspect of the briefings with our members is the opportunity to network with other members and ECCC consultants.
All ECCC members are welcome to attend, and as these briefings are part of membership benefits there is no charge.
Briefing Notes from the March Issues Briefings are available in the 'your EMA' members' section under Publications.
The next round of briefings is being held from 29 June - 28 July.
Topics for the July round of briefings include :
- What's New? - the government has been taking soundings on a range of employment topics such as ACC, PG law, privacy law, secret ballots for strikes - but
very little is finding its way into proposed legislation as yet. The word on the street in Wellington is that we can expect an omnibus Employment Relations Act
Amendment Bill around October 2010. What questions have National been asking, and what have we been saying on your behalf? Plus some interesting cases on coming unstuck on fixed term agreements. - Financial Eduction in the Workplace: Why bother? - presented by the Retirement Commission, this session covers the benefits to employers, and includes case studies and plenty of time for questions.
- How to deal with long term injury or illness in the workplace - the do's and don't to ensure you can get it right if you need to look at ending the employment relationship.
